Welcome to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate release party at the NYXL pop-up shop in Brooklyn! It’s an honor to work alongside an Overwatch League team to bring events like this to the Tristate Smash community. Let’s let them know exactly how awesome our scene is!
Come drop in any time after 2 pm on the day the game drops to get matches in on one of the 15+ consoles (or bring your own!) to start learning the new game alongside some of NYC’s best players–or just to have fun!
We’ll be giving away cool merch all day, especially to those who unlock characters on the systems ?

Please join us for a free screening of The Lost Arcade with Director/Producer Irene Chin who will be present for a Q&A at the end. The film is approximately one hour and 16 minutes long and premiered in 2016.
Many of us were raised in Chinatown and remember fondly about Chinatown Fair, and many of you remember it being on the other side of the street under the Port Arthur Restaurant. I myself, had a visited Chinatown fair many times having lived only mere blocks from Mott Street.

From the The Lost Arcade website: “THE LOST ARCADE is the critically acclaimed documentary about the last hold out of old-school arcade culture in New York City. An intimate portrait of the passionate and exceptionally diverse community at the beloved Chinatown Fair, The Lost Arcade, chronicles the evolution of arcades, while celebrating the camaraderie and history of a pop culture phenomenon.
The Lost Arcade premiered at DOC NYC and the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and screened at Open City Docs London, Melbourne International Film Festival, Glasgow International Film Festival, IFFBoston, Sidewalk Film Festival, and the San Diego Asian Film Festival. Going on to a limited theatrical release at NYC’s Metrograph and San Francisco’s Roxie.
The film is produced by 26 Aries, in Association with IGN Entertainment and Wheelhouse Creative.

Welcome to MHNYC’s first Smash Event, Hosting both a In person Competitive Tournament and a online for fun arena stream!
The online Stream will be free to join from the comfort of your home! Just join us at twitch.tv/monsterhunterNYC and join our arena for a fun filled time
Sign-ups for the in person tournament will have a $10 Entry fee ($5 to Venue and $5 to Prize Pool) beginning at 5:30 PM. The tournament will officially start at 7 PM. The brackets will be posted on Challonge. Entry cap is 32
*No outside food/drink is allowed in the venue *
Rules:
– 1 v 1 Tournament
– 3 Stock, 7 Minutes
– Sudden Death will be 1 Stock, 2 Minutes
– Double Elimination
– Pause OFF
– Stage Hazards OFF
– Starting Stages and Counter-pick Stages will be listed. (If a player bans Battlefield, ALL battlefields are banned. Same rule for all FD/Omega Stages.) Players will have 2 BANS for stages when counter-picking. We’ll be printing out a stage list for everyone to see.
– In a set, whoever loses can choose their character second in order to counter-pick.
– BYOC (Bring Your Own Controller) of course.
Legal stages are as followed
Starters: Battlefield, Final Destination, Pokemon Stadium 2, Smashville, and Kalos Pokemon League
Counterpick Stages: Unova Pokemon League, Lylat Cruise, Yoshi’s Island, and Town & City
The Prize Pot will be split as follows:
1st Place: 65%
2nd Place: 25%
3rd Place: 10%

The film is an exceptional directorial debut that focuses on the Chinatown Fair, the Mott Street landmark where generations honed their craft, made friends and lost at tic-tac-toe to a chicken. Masterfully presenting the sights and sounds of a changing scene, wistful yet hopeful, and full of the faces and characters that radiate fun and innovation, The Lost Arcade is a dazzling portrait of technostalgia and a timely commentary on the corporate era’s incineration of modest businesses, and the resiliency of the dedicated enthusiasts.
Director/Producer Irene Chin will host a Q&A after screening.

Irene Chin is a filmmaker and writer originally from Alexandria, Virginia and Honolulu, Hawaii, and now lives in Brooklyn, New York. Her first short film as director/producer, The Bachelorette Party, premiered at the NewFilmmakers NY series at Anthology Film Archives. Her first documentary as writer/producer, The Lost Arcade, premiered at DOC NYC and went on to screen at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Wexner Center for the Arts, Open City Docs London, Melbourne International Film Festival, Glasgow International Film Festival, IFFBoston. The New York Times called The Lost Arcade, “Part scrappy, part sweet, and wholly enjoyable…a love letter to a vanished piece of New York.” The New Yorker said the film was “raw and intimate.” Irene graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York.

NYXL, the professional esports team representing New York in the Overwatch League, is hosting its first every Rooftop Bar Watch party at VERSA NYC. Join us on June 9th from 2PM-6PM as we cheer on our favorite New York team against our Season 1 rivals, the London Spitfire.
That’s not all – There will also be gaming setups available for freeplay, Summer-esque party games, and NYXL themed food & drinks. All ages are welcome.
