For the Smash crowd –
-Freeplay stations to relax and learn the new game
-Smash Ultimate tournament ($10 entry) (which should be quite interesting a day after release!)
-Smash Melee tournament ($10 entry)
-A casual Smash Ultimate bracket (free entry) for more relaxed competitive play
-Games and tournament matches being played all night in the 300 seat IMAX theatre
-Older Smash game freeplay
For everyone else
-Retro gaming freeplay stations
-Arcade machines when you need a break from smashing
-“Bill & Seamus’s Excellent Adventure” – 2 gaming enthusiasts from the museum are running their own couch co-op game area
-Vendors selling game and game related stuff
-The Final Fantasy 9 jump rope challenge
-Raffles
Venue entry is $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Advance tickets end the Friday before at midnight.
There will be stations set up, but we encourage you to bring your Switch. The first 20 people who bring a setup (switch/dock/monitor) will receive free admission! We will have as many extra gamecube controllers and USB adapters as possible.
There will be security precautions in place to ensure that everyone’s stuff is safe as well.

Tournament rules –
Smash Ultimate –
-Due to the upcoming nature of Super Smash Bros Ultimate any rules are subject to change UP UNTIL THE DAY OF THE EVENT.
At this time we aim to run 3 stock 8 minute best of 3 matches that switch to best of 5 for later rounds. Check back for added rules to be added once the TOs know more about the game.
Smash Melee –
Melee shall be operated via the EVO 2018 ruleset, and are as follows.
Game version: US Nintendo GameCube
Game Settings: 4 Stock, 8 Minute Time Limit, No Items, Pause Disabled, 2/3 Games
Starter stages: Yoshi’s Story, Fountain of Dreams, Final Destination, Battlefield, Dream Land.
Counter-pick stages: Pokemon Stadium.
Wobbling is legal. Freezing and infinite stalling are not legal.
First stage is decided by banning from the Starter Stages in P1-P2-P2-P1 order.
Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before loser selects character.
Following stages decided by winner banning one stage from all stages and then loser choosing.
Any matches that are best of five, there are no stage bans.
You may not choose a stage you have already won on unless mutually agreed to.

No need to bring quarters as games are all set to free play, but please do bring the big hair, acid-washed jeans, shoulder pads, and Members Only jackets. And now we’ve added over 30 classic consoles from the 70s through the 90s so you can play all your retro favorites like Pong and games on the Atari 2600 all the way through to the Nintendo 64.
